Content Summary

For many managers, conducting a disciplinary interview can be stressful. What may be a pleasant working relationship has to be put aside for a formal event that may lead to serious consequences for the employee, or if the process is mishandled, severe legal problems for the employer.

Anyone aware of the pitfalls will recognise the need for a fair, calm and systematic approach to an encounter that can too easily become emotional.  All employees are made aware during their induction on the rules and procedures relating to disciplinary situations.

So what is disciplinary? A system of rules and conduct which is there to help everyone perform to the benefit of the organisation and each other.
