A hotel manger has its daily morning meeting. All the heads of department are attending and everybody is attentively listening to the revenue figures the manager is announcing. The housekeeper is nodding its head when the revenue manager talks about the OCC and the front office manager totally agrees with the RevPar that the hotel manager is praising, of course they both have been here for almost ten years and they know the hotel. A younger member of the executive team is also present. She is taking care of the food and beverage department and although very new to the hotel life, not quiet clear about all these abbreviations, however she is nodding, putting on a serious face. The meeting is over and the food and beverage manager asks the housekeeping manager on the corridor, “What means RevPar?” The housekeeping manager says: “Well ask the front office manager he is better in explaining that kind of information.” The front office manager overhearing the conversation promptly interferes and says, “You should know that! Why don’t you find out and if you have any further questions we can clarify them.” ….
Often training is not only needed for new starters (the guys who are green behind their ears…) There are often people in companies that have been there for years. But you know what, they did not ask you within the first six month when they started to work for you what RevPar, OCC and ARR is and now it is too late to ask…how embarrassing would it be to ask you now?
We at Tralib, can help you to evaluate what your training needs are without having to embarrass your senior team.
