ESG as a Framework to Decarbonization

ESG as a Framework to Decarbonization

It was a pleasure to speak at the Annual Green Shipping Summit in Rotterdam yesterday, looking at the challenges to be overcome and the pathways available in achieving the long-term decarbonization of the maritime industry.

The imperative to decarbonize is a contest faced by the entire maritime sector. The cruise industry has committed to pursuing net zero carbon cruising by 2050. Our workshop in Rotterdam focused on the three pillars of environment, social, and governance (ESG) to offer a framework to measure and understand an organization's sustainability. How can these principles be put into practice?

Covering topics ranging from decarbonization, port infrastructure and safety requirements to the Poseidon principles, this session provided insights beyond cruising and for the wider maritime sector with a guide through the maze to net zero.
